– New York, NY – At a hearing today in a New York County Supreme Court in Manhattan, the Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) argued that chimpanzees Hercules and Leo are “autonomous and self-determining beings” who should be issued an order that releases them from the laboratory where they’re being held at Stony Brook University to Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida.

Imprisoned journalist and former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal has been taken to the Intensive Care Unit of Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, after he was removed from prison for a medical emergency without any notification to his family, friends or lawyers.
