During the night between May 30-31, Animal Liberation Front activists released nine adult quail, kept locked in a small cage with very little light, little air, fed scraps of food, in Mestre (Venice), near the Forte Marghera park, in a former military structure – municipal today – squatted for years by an individual who lives in the neighborhood. He not only cultivates a vegetable garden, but breeds animals and illegally sells them as food to individuals. Two years ago, a large number of rabbits and chickens were freed. The quail were to be sold to hunters, who use them to train their dogs. The liberated quails were taken to a distant and secret facility where volunteers will take care of them for the rest of their lives.

Nella notte tra il 30 e 31 maggio, attivisti di Animal Liberation Front hanno liberato 9 quaglie adulte, tenute rinchiuse in una piccola gabbia con pochissima luce, poca aria, alimentate con scarti di cibo a Mestre (Venezia), vicino al parco di Forte Marghera, in una struttura ex militare – oggi comunale – occupata abusivamente da anni da un individuo che abita nel quartiere. Costui non solo coltiva un orto, ma alleva abusivamente animali e abusivamente li vende a privati per uso alimentare. Già due anni fa erano stati liberati conigli e galline in numero notevole. Le quaglie dovevano esser vendute a cacciatori, che le usano per l’addestramento dei loro cani. Le quaglie liberate sono state portate in una struttura lontana e segreta dove i volontari si prenderanno cura di loro per il resto della loro vita.
