For Barry Horne, RIP – Call for Remembrance Actions

To celebrate World Vegan Day on the 1st November we glued the locks of
multiple butcher shops in Birmingham, and redecorated the signs of a
local Zoo for the half term…again

We dedicate these actions to Barry Horne, who died fighting for the
animals on November 5th 2001. It is crucial for new vegans to know the
history of the Animal Rights movement in the UK, and to remember those
who gave their lives for it. In the next week we encourage any vegans
with love and anger in their hearts to take non-violent action in
remembrance of Barry – in whatever form it may be, illegal or legal,
direct or indirect – the AR movement has always used a range of tactics,
for the common cause of Animal Liberation. Think for yourselves: Do you
see the population going vegan through ‘choice’, even though it is not
their choice to make? Do we need to take that choice away through
sabotage of the animal industries? We call ourselves Anti-Speciesists,
but what level of action would we take if the bodies hanging in the
butchers’ windows were human?
If not you, who? If not now, when?

‘The souls of the tortured dead cry out for justice, the cry of the
living is for freedom. We can create that justice and we can deliver
that freedom. The animals have no one but us. We will not fail them.’ –
Barry Horne
