A butcher shop was torched during a May 1 street protest in Santiago. Translation of claim of responsibility by the Earth First! Journal:
“…. The incendiary attack consisted of the partial burn of a butcher shop named ‘Miss Meat’ [‘doña carne’] located at the corner of Chacabuco and Alameda. We used 5 liters of benzine and paraffin in an equal 1:1 portion, causing millions of pesos in damage and several days of inactivity. To make our point further, along with several hooded folks, we did not allow the extraction of meat or its byproducts, since the last resort was sabotage, destruction, and arson, positioning ourselves as die-hard supporters of animal liberation.”
