HOYTSVILLE, Utah — An investigation is continuing to determine who broke into a northern Utah farm and freed 20 mink. Summit County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ronald Bridge said the animals were released on Sept. 13 in the small town of Hoytsville.
Fifteen mink were found soon after and the owner has told investigators he’ll likely find the others.
No one was hurt and no property was damaged during the burglary.
Bridge ruled out People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as a suspect. PETA previously said the group had nothing to do with the incident.
The farm and its owner have not been named by authorities.
Fur Commission USA says Utah is one of the top-producing, fur farming states.
