{"id":9880,"date":"2019-12-31T12:15:36","date_gmt":"2019-12-31T20:15:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animalliberationpressoffice.org\/NAALPO\/?p=9880"},"modified":"2020-01-05T12:20:32","modified_gmt":"2020-01-05T20:20:32","slug":"llamas-missing-from-us-exotic-animal-farm-previously-targeted-by-animal-rights-activists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animalliberationpressoffice.org\/NAALPO\/2019\/12\/31\/llamas-missing-from-us-exotic-animal-farm-previously-targeted-by-animal-rights-activists\/","title":{"rendered":"llamas missing from US exotic animal farm, previously targeted by animal rights activists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-vz0241\"><a href=\"https:\/\/animalliberationpressoffice.org\/NAALPO\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2020_llama.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9881\" src=\"https:\/\/animalliberationpressoffice.org\/NAALPO\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2020_llama.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"269\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/animalliberationpressoffice.org\/NAALPO\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2020_llama.jpg 269w, https:\/\/animalliberationpressoffice.org\/NAALPO\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2020_llama-200x125.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 269px) 100vw, 269px\" \/>7news.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">About two dozen llamas were discovered missing from an exotic animal farm in Southern California after a burglary, authorities say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">The break-in happened on Monday morning at the 14-acre farm in the Riverside County town of Perris, about 110km southeast of downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">&#8220;We received the call about 6:36am regarding numerous llamas and emus walking on Orange Avenue,&#8221; Riverside County Sheriff&#8217;s Deputy\u00a0<a class=\"css-1kdc5q8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/perris-exotic-animal-farm-burglarized-llamas-stolen\/2283246\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-link-type=\"article-inline\">Robyn Flores said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">&#8220;During the investigation, it was learned that a lock on the fence had been cut, which allowed the animals to leave the property.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">The farm&#8217;s operators, deputies and animal control officers, corralled many of the loose 50 creatures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">But it was later found that 20 to 30 llamas had been trucked away, Flores said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">&#8220;The investigation into this case is ongoing and there are no suspects in custody at this time,&#8221; according to Flores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">The Riverside County Department of Animal Services has been regularly visiting the site in recent days to address cleanliness and maintenance issues, a spokesman for the agency said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">&#8220;We have walked the property and there is plenty of food for the animals. No emaciated animals,&#8221; county animal services spokesman John Welsh said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-vz0241\">&#8220;This property is somewhat of an eyesore, but we do not have any evidence of anyone willfully neglecting or harming any animals.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>7news.com.au About two dozen llamas were discovered missing from an exotic animal farm in Southern California after a burglary, authorities say.
