During the night of Wednesday, November 21, we attacked the Meinen butcher shop in Mattenhof and the Lehmann butcher shop in L\u00e4nggasse, Bern. With the broken windows and the slogans left behind, we want to make our anger at the slaughter of animals visible.<\/p>\n

Every day, animals are bred, humiliated, tortured, beaten and killed at the will of humans. Animals have been degenerated into a commodity in the capitalist system, and end up as overproduction in the containers of Coop, Migros, Denner and Co. at the end of the day. Smaller companies, such as the local butchers, are also part of this exploitative apparatus. They often like to advertise ‘animal-friendly organic production’ from the farm. However, the word ‘organic’ is just another label in which the conditions for the animals hardly differ from other farms.
\nIn recent months, similar actions in western Switzerland and in France have made headlines. With eyes filled with tears, owners of butcher shops gave interviews in which they complained of the ‘injustice’ of such actions. Some animal rights activists also spoke of the ‘damage’ of such actions to the whole animal protection movement. But in one movement there are always different theoretical and practical tendencies that can complement each other. What is important, however, is a clear positioning against all racist, anti-Semitic and otherwise discriminatory positions, as well as the connection of the various emancipatory struggles against all oppression and exploitation of humans and animals. We are therefore in solidarity with the actions in western Switzerland and France, because some paint and broken windows are nothing in comparison to the suffering of the animals, which they have to experience every day. At the same time, we want to fight and combat any discriminatory actions and positions.<\/p>\n

It will not be the last broken windows – No one is free until everyone is free!<\/p>\n

\nIn der Nacht auf Mittwoch, 21. November, haben wir die Metzgerei Meinen im Mattenhof sowie die Metzgerei Lehmann in der L\u00e4nggasse, Bern, angegriffen. Mit den eingeschlagenen Scheiben und den hinterlassenen Parolen wollen wir unsere Wut auf das Abschlachten von Tieren sichtbar machen.<\/p>\n

Tagt\u00e4glich werden Tiere nach Gutd\u00fcnken der Menschen gez\u00fcchtet, erniedrigt, gequ\u00e4lt, geschlagen und get\u00f6tet. Tiere sind im kapitalistischen System zu einer Ware verkommen, die am Ende des Tages als \u00dcberproduktion in den Containern von Coop, Migros, Denner und Co. landen. Auch kleinere Unternehmen, wie die lokalen Metzgereien sind Teil dieses ausbeuterischen Apparates. Sie werben oft gerne mit einer “tierfreundlichen Bioproduktion” vom Bauernhof. Das Wort “Bio” ist jedoch nur ein weiteres Label, in der sich die Bedingungen f\u00fcr die Tiere kaum von anderen Betrieben unterscheiden.
\nIn den vergangenen Monaten sorgten \u00e4hnliche Aktionen in der Westschweiz und in Frankreich f\u00fcr Schlagzeilen. Tr\u00e4nen\u00fcberstr\u00f6mt gaben Besitzende von Metzgereien Interviews, in denen sie die “Ungerechtigkeit” solcher Aktionen beklagten. Auch einige Tiersch\u00fctzer*innen sprachen von einem “Schaden” solcher Aktionen f\u00fcr die ganze Tierschutzbewegung. Doch in einer Bewegung gibt es stets verschiedene theoretische und praktische Tendenzen, die sich gegenseitig erg\u00e4nzen k\u00f6nnen. Wichtig ist jedoch eine klare Positionierung gegen jegliche rassistische, antisemitische und sonst diskriminerende Positionen, sowie die Verbindung der verschiedenen emanzipatorischen K\u00e4mpfe gegen jegliche Unterdr\u00fcckung und Ausbeutung von Mensch und Tier. Wir solidarisieren uns somit mit den Aktionen in der Westschweiz und Frankreich, denn etwas Farbe und kaputte Scheiben sind nichts im Vergleich zum Leid der Tiere, welche sie tagt\u00e4glich erleben m\u00fcssen. Gleichzeitig wollen wir gegen jegliche diskriminierenden Aktionen und Positionen vorgehen und diese bek\u00e4mpfen.<\/p>\n
