For Barry Horne, RIP \u2013 Call for Remembrance Actions<\/p>\n
To celebrate World Vegan Day on the 1st November we glued the locks of
\nmultiple butcher shops in Birmingham, and redecorated the signs of a
\nlocal Zoo for the half term…again<\/p>\n
We dedicate these actions to Barry Horne, who died fighting for the
\nanimals on November 5th 2001. It is crucial for new vegans to know the
\nhistory of the Animal Rights movement in the UK, and to remember those
\nwho gave their lives for it. In the next week we encourage any vegans
\nwith love and anger in their hearts to take non-violent action in
\nremembrance of Barry – in whatever form it may be, illegal or legal,
\ndirect or indirect \u2013 the AR movement has always used a range of tactics,
\nfor the common cause of Animal Liberation. Think for yourselves: Do you
\nsee the population going vegan through ‘choice’, even though it is not
\ntheir choice to make? Do we need to take that choice away through
\nsabotage of the animal industries? We call ourselves Anti-Speciesists,
\nbut what level of action would we take if the bodies hanging in the
\nbutchers’ windows were human?
