We decided to enter the animal research facility of the Department of Biology at UMCE (ex pedagogical) in order to snatch from the hands of torturers and future teachers a group of ‘laboratory’ frogs and rats who were confined in an unhealthy space, where the cages were full of feces and dirt, in the cold and dark. In these labs and housing facilities animals are reduced to a body whose sole purpose is to be assaulted in various ways, mutilated to the point of being killed to become a statistic.<\/p>\n

Our action is not an isolated act. For several years now, the work of vivisectors has been made visible and confronted with criticism and radical action. We inscribe this act on the same path as the liberation of rats at UMCE in 2008, the incendiary attack against the vehicle of the Cuban vivisector Fidel Castro in 2012 (at the international symposium on animal models in biomedical research in Concepci\u00f3n), the liberation of rats and degus from a laboratory in the sciences department of the U. of Chile in 2017 and the sabotage with paint against the room where they conduct conditioning experiments on rats in the social sciences department, both actions on the Juan Gomez Millas campus.<\/p>\n

We understand and share the social and political context of the feminist struggle and the importance of the shots that women and other dissidents have taken to achieve their demands. We know the urgency of having a space free of patriarchal violence for all who inhabit this place of study. However, we also understand the urgency of the animals who are caged and tortured by the same university and its complicit students, both those who participate in torture as well as those who know about it and are tolerant of animal exploitation. In what is a basic anti-speciesist principle, human life is not above the rest of non-human animals.<\/p>\n

We do not intend to tarnish the movement and we clarify that we are individuals completely separate from the university. We hope that with this action the tensions and questions about speciesism will grow and become concrete actions that contribute to the liberation of those who are being oppressed by capitalism, patriarchy, speciesism and all forms of exploitation, domination and authority.<\/p>\n

We make a call to be alert in the spaces where we move, in any of these there may be a target to attack. Confrontation and sabotage do not require specialists or experts. We invite you to identify objectives, study these spaces and take action. There are no cages that open themselves nor oppressions that cease without determined and concrete anti-authoritarian actions.<\/p>\n

A fraternal greeting to all the individuals who have abandoned passivity and are conspiring, contributing and acting against all forms of domination and authority.<\/p>\n

\nDecidimos entrar al bioterio de la Facultad de Biolog\u00eda de la UMCE (ex pedag\u00f3gico) con el fin de arrebatar de las manos de torturadorxs y futurxs docentes a un grupo de ranas y ratas ‘de laboratorio’, las cuales se encontraban recluidas en un espacio insalubre, donde las jaulas se manten\u00edan atestadas de fecas y suciedad, en un espacio fr\u00edo y oscuro. En estos laboratorios y bioterios lxs animales se reducen a un cuerpo cuyo \u00fanico fin es ser agredido de diversas formas, mutilado, hasta ser asesinado para formar parte de una estad\u00edstica.<\/p>\n

Nuestra acci\u00f3n no es un hecho aislado. Desde hace varios a\u00f1os que el trabajo de los vivisectores ha sido visibilizado y enfrentado con la cr\u00edtica y la acci\u00f3n radical. Inscribimos este acto en el mismo camino de la liberaci\u00f3n de ratas en la UMCE el 2008, del ataque incendiario en contra del veh\u00edculo del vivisector cubano Fidel Castro el 2012 (simposio internacional sobre modelos en investigaci\u00f3n biom\u00e9dica en concepci\u00f3n), de la liberaci\u00f3n de ratas y deg\u00faes de un bioterio de la facultad de ciencias de la U. de Chile el 2017 y el sabotaje con pintura en contra del sal\u00f3n en donde se experimenta condicionamiento en ratas en la facultad de ciencias sociales, ambos hechos ocurridos en el campus Juan Gomez Millas.<\/p>\n

Entendemos y compartimos el contexto social y pol\u00edtico de la lucha feminista y la importancia que tienen las tomas de mujeres y disidencias para lograr sus demandas. Sabemos la urgencia que implica tener un espacio libre de violencia patriarcal seguro para todxs lxs que habitan este lugar de estudio. Sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n entendemos la urgencia de lxs animales all\u00ed encerradxs y torturadxs por la misma universidad y sus estudiantes c\u00f3mplices, tanto lxs que participan de las torturas como lxs que lo saben y son tolerantes ante la explotaci\u00f3n animal. En lo que ser\u00eda un principio b\u00e1sico antiespecista, la vida humana no est\u00e1 por encima del resto de lxs animales no-humanxs.<\/p>\n

No pretendemos empa\u00f1ar el movimiento y desde ya esclarecemos que somos individualidades completamente ajenas a la universidad y a la toma. Esperamos que con esta acci\u00f3n las tensiones y cuestionamientos acerca del especismo se acrecenten y se conviertan en actos concretos que aporten a la liberaci\u00f3n de quienes est\u00e1n siendo oprimidxs por el capitalismo, patriarcado, especismo y todas las formas de explotaci\u00f3n, dominaci\u00f3n y autoridad.<\/p>\n

Hacemos un llamado a estar alerta en los espacios donde nos movemos, en cualquiera de estos puede haber un blanco a atacar. La confrontaci\u00f3n y sabotaje no requieren de especialistas ni de expertxs. Invitamos a identificar objetivos, estudiar los espacios y accionar. No hay jaulas que se abran solas ni opresiones que cesen sin acciones antiautoritarias decididas y concretas.<\/p>\n
