As if there was another reason to scorn the police!<\/p>\n

\"policedog\"<\/a>A retired police dog was ditched by his former law enforcement owner at a Brooklyn animal shelter last week after working nearly his whole life fighting crime \u2014 and was only saved from possible euthanasia at the last minute, an animal rights group says.<\/p>\n

Buster \u2014 an 8-year-old German shepherd who worked patrol, narcotics and training since he was 18 months old \u2014 was suddenly left homeless Wednesday after his retired owner \u201ccould no longer keep him due to personal problems,\u201d said the city\u2019s Animal Care and Control Office.<\/p>\n

After a public outcry by animals lovers tracking the canine\u2019s fate online, Queens-based Four Paws Sake stepped in to right Buster\u2019s wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cBuster has permanent placement with a Handler for Retired K9\u2019s,\u201d the group announced on their Facebook page<\/a> Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did nothing out of the ordinary as a rescue group. We brought a dog to safety where he will live out the remainder of his life happy, with experienced hands, in the right home.\u201d<\/p>\n

It remains unclear what law enforcement agency the dog served with.<\/p>\n
